Reconomy Group publishes its 2021 Sustainability Report
Reconomy is a leading global platform delivering improved sustainability outcomes for its customers, helping them deliver zero waste, achieve environmental compliance, and reduce emissions through intelligent reuse logistics. Reconomy’s asset-light, tech-enabled model operates three symbiotic verticals, which serve as critical links within the circular economy:
· Recycle: Leading European provider of outsourced waste management services (#1 in UK) using technology, specialist knowledge and an integrated supply network to help customers across the infrastructure, construction, house building, commercial and retail sectors achieve zero waste
· Comply: Leading provider of compliance schemes (#1-3 across UK/EU), helping corporates responsibly manage and monitor their waste, and comply with electronic equipment, battery, and packaging regulatory obligations.
· Reuse: #1 specialised logistics software player in Europe. Sustainable product returns and pre-retail value-added services and fulfilment, using technology and intelligent logistics to extend the life of products and deliver seamless, agile and positive customer experiences on behalf of retailers.
Across these three complementary verticals, the company provides a comprehensive range of solutions to its clients on an outsourced basis. Reconomy’s innovative business model has transformed the management of housebuilding, construction, commercial and industrial waste inthe UK, as well as compliance and returns management across Europe.
EMK Capital, through its role on the Board and its deep partnership with the management team, has worked closely with Reconomy to develop its buy-and-build strategy, further strengthening its “Recycle”vertical and building Comply and Reuse to deliver a truly circular set of services. This has transformed a UK waste management outsourced services business into a European, and then global ‘Reconomy Group’, servicing businesses in over 80 countries around the world to improve circularity. In 2018, Reconomy added the ‘Comply’ vertical, acquiring Valpak and at the end of 2020, EMK added the ‘Reuse’ vertical-acquiring ReBound, Cycleon and Advanced Supply Chain Group - which delivers more intelligent reworking of goods in situ, optimising returns, decreasing thenumber of items ending up in landfill and extending product life.
